The Last Sign before the Return of Christ

We often look to places like Ezekiel 38 for signs, but the reality is that the 6th Vial in Revelation 16 describes perhaps the most important sign for our generation because it is the very last sign to directly portend the return of Christ.

13 And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet.

14 For they are the spirits of devils, working miracles, which go forth unto the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty.

In verse 13, the primary emphasis is on the unclean spirits – not the frogs, which are only intended to help describe the unclean spirits. The unclean spirits represent teachings which are detestable to God. The detestability of humanism has been a constant since Adam and Eve, and today’s human nature and sin is no better or worse than it was in the time of Nimrod or the Tower of Babel. What is more detestable to God today, is the global influence wielded by the anti-Christ and the harlot-church.

The meaning behind the symbol of the Frog can be found in both the Exodus and Psalms which speak of the pervasiveness of the Frogs during the Egyptian plagues and how they were so omnipresent that they even entered the kings bed chambers – Psa 105:30. This pervasive influence is one that comes from three entities; the mouths of the Dragon (Russia), Beast (Europe) and False Prophet (the Papacy).

However verse 14 has strong links back to other sections of scripture which give us more information about this pervasive policy, and it is not just any policy; these verses describe the apostate doctrines of the False prophet in the last days suggesting that what verse fourteen is describing, is not so much a political ideology, but a blasphemous ecclesiastical policy or teaching. Such a hypothesis would not be against the grain of the broader narrative of Revelation which includes the history of the rise and fall of the apostate system.

Both Europe and Russia are components of the former Roman and Byzantine Empires which indulged the teachings of their respective apostate churches – Catholicism, and Orthodoxy.  Today, with the help of social and news media, the teachings are louder, more pervasive, and perhaps more blasphemous – and they are indulged by both the European leaders and the Russian state.

“Unclean Spirits”

The biblical term “spirits” refers to doctrines & teachings:

1 John 4:1 – Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world

“The Spirits of Devils”

1 Tim 4:1 – Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils.

“Working Miracles”

Matt 24:24 – For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.

“Kings of the Earth”

Revelation 17 (the harlot riding the beast) – And there came one of the seven angels which had the seven vials, and talked with me, saying unto me, Come hither; I will shew unto thee the judgment of the great whore that sitteth upon many waters: With whom kings of the earth have committed fornication, and the inhabitants of the earth have been made drunk with the wine of her fornication.

Pope Francis: “We can accomplish Miraculous things”

Only a few weeks ago, Pope Francis made the following comment;

“We can accomplish miraculous things in the world by merging our faiths, and the time for such a movement is now. No longer shall we slaughter our neighbors over differences in reference to their God.”

Pope Francis looks to Putin to defend Christianity

As I write, in 8 hours time, a millennium of history is about to be reversed.

For the first time since the Great Schism in 1054, the Pope is about to meet with the Russian Orthodox Patriarch. (Click here to see the latest)

‘So what?’ you say.

I’m glad you asked, because we are now witnessing the beginning of an incredible fulfilment of prophecy – something that everyone should know about.

To understand why it is so important, we need to go back to Nebuchadnezzar image in Daniel chapter 2.

The image of Daniel 2 (seen in the centre of the image above) represents the successive kingdoms of men that existed synonymously with the nation of Israel.

The legs of Iron represented the Roman Empire which eventually had an Eastern and Western component seen in the two legs. Daniel 2:42 describes the latter day component of the image, the feet, which also contain Iron and therefore the Roman element.

Revelation also draws on Daniel to give us more detail about this latter day entity – this is explained briefly here. Both prophecies require that the Roman Empire be re-formed in the latter days, around the time that Israel is re-established as a nation in their own land.

Bro. Thomas goes on to explain a little more about how his might begin to come to pass:

“The time is not far off, when the Latin Bishop (The Pope) may have to seek again to the Constantinopolitan Imperial Autocracy (Russia in Constantinople) for protection.”

While Russia is not yet in Constantinople (currently under the control of Turkey) it increasingly looks as though Russia and Turkey are about to have an armed conflict which could well see Russia taking the ancient city.

However it seems tht Constantinople or not, the Pope has already started to seek out the security that only Putin can offer, see the following article: Pope Francis Sees Putin as ‘Only Man’ to Defend Christians Around the World

Interestingly, a number of sources suggest that todays meeting was initiated by Putin himself. If this is true, it seems to be timed well with the Russian-Turkish crisis.

Today’s meeting will set the tone for further unification between East and West, between the two feet that will form the latter day representation of the Kingdom of Men.

Putin is on the verge of fulfilling the ancient Russian dream of reviving the ancient Roman/Byzantine empire in Constantinople and completing the image.

And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever.

A new nation-state model for Europe

Europe is currently in search of a new nation state model.

In the following video, Yanis Varoufakis (former Greek finance minister) is interviewed by Bloomberg on the anniversary of the election of Syriza:

“God and his angels could not fix Greece”

“Greece is collateral damage in a broader game of brinkmanship between Paris and Berlin who have not worked out what they want to do with the Eurozone: the Eurozone is not sustainable.”

“The obvious conclusion one must draw from this is that either you argue for a dissolution of the monetary union, and then you can talk about national politics again quite sensibly. Or you should be talking about a pan-European movement for change throughout the eurozone.”

With the emergence of both Russia, and the Papacy, one wonders if we are about to see a change in Europe which will bring about the ten toes of Daniels image, bound together by the Iron. Truly amazing times.

Russia’s occupation of Syria & Iraq in the prophets.

Putin’s military move into Syria was implicitly prophesied in Daniel 11.

I recall listening to a Christadelphian lecture 1 month prior to Russia’s move into Syria. The lecturer said that the fulfilment of Dan 11:40 required that Russia must occupy Syria before moving into Turkey.

Sure enough, a month later, Russia moved into Syria.

This lecturer is certainly not the only one to have this view. In an exposition entitled “The Prophecy of Daniel”, HP. Mansfield wrote the following back in 1986 – almost 30 years ago:

“Daniel 11: “And the king of the North <Russia> shall come against him <Turkey>”

The fulfilment <of this> must await the final re-forming of the… Kingdom of Syria, which the northern Russian power is poised to accomplish.

She <Russia> is spreading her control over the territory of the ancient king of the north, and only requires a controlling influence in Iran, Iraq and Syria to qualify for the title; then she will be ready to “come against him <Turkey>.”

This understanding of Daniel 11 is not a result of the prophetic capabilities of these bible students, but simply a result of careful reading of Daniel 11 and other quotes.

To understand why it is that Russia will have a controlling military influence in Syria/Iraq, we need to understand how the prophets portrayed Gog in their prophecies.

To that end, Ezekiel provides us with a clue. In chapter 38:17, God tells ‘Gog’, that he is the individual who had been spoken of by other prophets:

Art thou he of whom I have spoken in old time by my servants the prophets of Israel, which prophesied in those days many years that I would bring thee against them?

Which of the prophets might verse 17 be referring to?

At least two other prophets lived prior to Ezekiel’s time; Micah and Isaiah, and both prophets have latter-day prophecies which refer to Gog:

Gog in Micah & Isaiah – ‘The King of Assyria’

Micah 5

The context of Micah 5 is the coming of the Messiah (v2) and the return of Israel to the land (v3) so this is without a doubt a latter-day prophecy. In verse 5, Micah begins to talk about the latter-day enemy of Israel:

When the Assyrian shall come into our land: and when he shall tread in our palaces…

…and it shall come to pass in that day, saith the LORD, that I will cut off thy horses out of the midst of thee, and I will destroy thy chariots

Isa 30 & 31

The time period for both of these chapters in Isaiah are also in the latter days as they talk of a time period that occurs around the time when judgement emanates from Zion, and Jerusalem is defended. Here are the references to the latter-day Assyrian in Isaiah:

Isa 30:31 For through the voice of the Lord shall the Assyrian be beaten down, which smote with a rod.

32 And in every place where the grounded staff shall pass, which the Lord shall lay upon him, it shall be with tabrets and harps: and in battles of shaking will he fight with it.

33 For Tophet is ordained of old; yea, for the king it is prepared; he hath made it deep and large: the pile thereof is fire and much wood; the breath of the Lord, like a stream of brimstone, doth kindle it.

Isa 31:1 Woe to them that go down to Egypt for help; and stay on horses, and trust in chariots, because they are many; and in horsemen, because they are very strong; but they look not unto the Holy One of Israel, neither seek the Lord!

8 Then shall the Assyrian fall with the sword, not of a mighty man; and the sword, not of a mean man, shall devour him: but he shall flee from the sword, and his young men shall be discomfited.

9 And he shall pass over to his strong hold for fear, and his princes shall be afraid of the ensign, saith the Lord, whose fire is in Zion, and his furnace in Jerusalem.

Notice it doesn’t say when “the Assyrians” come into our land, but rather it is the “Assyrian” in the singular.

This is not talking of the latter-day manifestation of the Assyrian’s manifested in a nation or empire (which is comparable to today’s ISIS), but rather this is talking about a latter-day individual, or King – Isa 30:33. This is an autocrat who will have occupational power in Assyria prior to the invasion of Israel.

This heartland of the ancient Assyrian empire happens to be around the area of the Tigris and the Euphrates (which today is part of Syria & Iraq) in mostly areas that are currently controlled by ISIS.

While ISIS currently control this region, Russia has declared war on ISIS and are moving into the region with a ferocity unmatched by the United States.

Gog in Daniel – ‘The King of the North’

After Ezekiel’s time, the prophet Daniel was also given information about Gog.

Daniel 11

This time, in the latter part of Daniel 11, Gog is named “The King of the North”.

The empire of the “King of the North” in Daniel 11 was the Seleucid empire which extended from Turkey to Afghanistan.

It’s interesting to note that much like the Assyrian empire, the heartland of the Seleucid empire was along the region of the Euphrates and Tigris which is inclusive of today’s Syria & Iraq.

Daniel 11 calls Gog the “King of the North” because Gog will have a controlling influence in the region of the ancient king of the North.

Today, Russia is in the process of increasing its military influence and power within this Seleucid region:

  • Russia already has significant influence in Iran
  • Russia already has significant influence in Syria.
  • Iraq has indicated that they would prefer the Russian military for protection instead of the US military and have already started mutual intelligence sharing with Russia to a greater degree than what exists with the US.
  • Putin has expressed interest in occupying Afghanistan as NATO looks to leave. When he announced this, Obama immediately cancelled his troop withdrawal.

Isaiah, Micah & Daniel all refer to Gog as being a king over the former territories of the Assyrian and Seleucid empires before invading Turkey, Egypt and Israel.

As seen earlier, this is currently a region which is under the control of ISIS, however, Russia is moving in and is likely to become the occupying power.

Daniel 11 shows that it is during this time, or after, the Gogian autocrat will focus his attention on Turkey.
